PaperKarma for Earth Day…

~Thursday~  Several days ago, my friend Joe told me about an app called PaperKarma that allows you to take a picture of labels on junk mail (in the US mail) and submit them to a company that will remove you from the offending sender’s mailing list:

Click to go to PaperKarma website.

As someone pointed out, perhaps it was the karma from just downloading the app, but I went several days without getting junk mail, before some finally arrived today that I could try the app on.

In an ironic coincidence, the “junk mail” I finally received was a four- or five-page newspaper from a group called Civitas, which I’ve never heard of before, and the article taking up the entire top half of the front page was about all the compelling reasons I should vote in favor of the on-the-ballot-for-May-8 proposal to amend North Carolina’s state constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman.

In spite of not aspiring to the institution of marriage myself, I don’t begrudge the civil rights of those who do.
