Tire King and not a good Jay day…

I dropped my car off at Tire King this morning to have the tires rotated (finally!), and asked them to aim my headlights as well. I read the obituaries in the N&O while I waited for the van to leave. I haven’t read the printed obits in so long. They don’t put the pictures in … Read more

Deck furniture on our minds…

On the way home from work (late) I stopped at K-Mart to check on deck furniture, and covers for my deck chairs. They had to close-out tables and chair sets, one regularly $499 for $299 (a Martha Steward set), and one regularly $399 for $174. When I asked if there were others in the back … Read more

Comminuty Center interest-raising & dancing!

Robert and I headed out to the NC Museum of Art to help set up for the Community Center interest-raising event. Robert was already there, of course, and we started off by helping put together the rainbow-colored streamers. Robert and his partner had cut up red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet table cloths into … Read more

Stress test…

I had my stress test with Ava and Dr. Jacokes. I “passed with flying colors.” I got to work with only about an hour to work before meeting Suzanne and Janet for lunch at The Deli Box. We had a good lunch out on the picnic tables. At home, I sent out a note to … Read more

Awkward personified…

I rode with Jay to Howard’s for book club. Russell was the only other attendee. We decided on the agenda for the next year. The hosting and refreshments still need to be worked out. We watched the DVD of Chuck & Buck, stopping for an intermission of brownies and an apple crisp and ice cream. … Read more

Mike loses 92 pounds!

I met Mike W. for lunch today and found him 92 pounds lighter. He’s starting to look sexy again, like he used to. We were going to eat at Manchester’s, but found it closed when we arrived, so we ate at the Arby’s next to it. Robert came over early for dancing, and we went … Read more

Steve’s out, Courtney’s in…

I worked until about 6:30, and got home around 7:00. Steve called at 7:30 telling me he was on his way. I took him to the airport for his 9:30 flight to Houston via Atlanta on Delta. After dropping him off, I stopped at Wal-Mart and bought 3 “easy” crossword puzzle books, and then at … Read more

Financially sound…

I met with Nathan today, and everything’s in a good place. I re-did the relationships on my beneficiaries as we had discussed earlier, and paid him for another annual assessment. We talked about my urge to buy a Mercedes, and he suggested that I call him before I make an actual purchase. 🙂

Back on the chrome pony…

I rode my bike for 14 miles today. I rode up Kaplan, left on Athens Drive, right on Avent Ferry, up to Tryon, right on Tryon, all the way out to Kildaire Farms road. I had no idea that that’s where Tryon went. I also passed the water park that I’ve always seen the sign … Read more

Home with Pride…

We got an early start today. Mom and dad were supposed to stop by our room at 7:15, and at 6:50, knocked on the door. I was still packing. They said they’d meet us down in the lobby. When we got down there, Aunt Rita was with them, and came walking over, camera in hand. … Read more
