Dry January (Day 9)

~Saturday~  I took mom to bingo in Greenville tonight, returning back to Raleigh at a little after 11 p.m., and I met Todd and Joe (both of whom are also having a dry January) at Flex, where it was “gear night.”

At a little after midnight, the three of went over to The Borough, where Joe and I had food. I had the BLT&A with half-an-order of fries and half-an-order of broccoli. I brought half of the sandwich home for Bob.

I drank water all night tonight.

Thoughts and observations tonight:

  • Let me just preface this by saying that, even when I’m drinking, it’s almost always (IMHO) the people who shouldn’t who end up parading around Flex in harnesses, chaps, and jockstraps when it’s “gear night” or “leather night.” But I do believe seeing them through completely sober eyes is even more painful, which I heretofore didn’t think was possible.
  • I felt all three of us were kind of cranky tonight. It made me think of two items from the list of observations from the author of the article that prompted me to try this experiment, item #2 and item #6, and I hoped that item #6 wasn’t starting to happen.
  • Todd and I mused about how some of the comments on our Facebook postings about doing dry January sound like some people think we’re alcoholics and/or that we’re giving up alcohol for good. Things that make you go, “Hmmm.”

9 days down, 22 to go!
