First thing, I sent out an e-mail to the audit attendees about audit etiquette, and included the last OBS I forgot to include in the note yesterday, in case we look at it.
I went up to the conference room at about 9:15 to make sure all the connections worked, and fortunately the room was empty. Everything hooked up fine, and I was well-prepared when Marilyn arrived at about 9:55. We connected right at 10, and everyone else prompted dialed in, except Randy, who did so about 3 minutes after we started.
The meeting did not go anywhere near as smoothly as I had hoped. We had a lot of trouble navigating the team room, and in retrospect, it would have been better to postpone the meeting until an e-meeting slot was available to allow Stacy to “drive” from Austin. We ended up the meeting only having reviewed four of the six nonconformances, and with Marilyn agreeing to close only one of them.
I felt very ambivalent after this meeting. On the one hand, it was a great disappointment, as I had visualized coming out of the meeting with four or five of the six nonconformances closed. On the other hand, I still felt like the team, and the Security pillar organization, has done good work. I wish Marilyn would be more confirming in her approach. I fear the AMeB team has become very disheartened. I spent the rest of the afternoon summarizing the meeting to Alan, and sent the note out at about 5:00.
Once, home, I got on my bike and took an hour ride, about 15 miles. It was getting dark as I pulled back in. I ate the final portion of the Stromboli I bought at Lily’s earlier in the week. I went to bed at about 10:00, and read Seabiscuit until about 11:00.
