I edited a paper for Steve, and one for Irene this morning. These last minute edits of theirs are killing me. I like doing that kind of work, though, and they did recommend me for grad school after all. 🙂
I worked in Henry and Debra’s office late morning to help them with IDWB/F2K installs. Debra was getting a path error, which I tried to fix by modifying her path statement, but it didn’t work. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling IDWB, which fixed the problem.
The install of F2K on Henry’s machine did not go well. First of all he failed to tell me that he had very little space left on his C drive, and once I installed IDWB on it, there was no space left to install the other products. So I then tried to install FrameMaker 7.0 on his D drive, but got a message that there’s not enough space on the C drive. Evidently it wants some temp space on the C drive even though I’m installing on the D drive. Grrrr.
We ran out of time, and I eventually left with instructions for him to uninstall IDWB on the C drive, and install everything on the D drive. We also got stuck during the Frame2000 API install with a request for a Distiller license number, which we didn’t have. Grrrrr.
I had a 1:00 call with Alan, Renae, and Hector about the next GLBT Education module. Hector called in from vacation, in Ft. Lauderdale. How dedicated. Alan and I, as usual, were like oil and water. In retrospect, I “appreciate this diversity” on the team, but while it’s happening it’s frustrating as shit. Oh well.
My call with Cassandra lasted 15 minutes instead of 30, which was great. I took her though opening an issue in the backlog database, so she can proceed with that work.
I left at 3:30 for my 4:10 class. When I got there, no one else was there. I walked around in the halls looking at exhibits that were evidently Psychology final projects that were all along the walls on the floor in the hall. At about 4:15, with no one else there, I started wondering if this was the right day, or if I missed an e-mail or something.
At about 4:20, Dr. Brad showed up. Shortly after that Jason arrived. Dr. Brad said he had an email from Meagan that she was babysitting and the mother hadn’t arrived home yet. Lame. Lame. Lame.
Amanda never showed up, which was a little disturbing. I really missed her class contribution. Meagan finally showed up and we went to Dr. Brad’s office to have our class. I thought we were going to meet for 15 or 20 minutes today to do the teacher evaluation and then leave. He ended up giving us a full lecture, which ended at five after seven! (The class ends at 7!) We then had to do the evaluations before we left. I still gave him a decent eval, and spoke with him for a few minutes on the way out, letting him know that if he gets another independent study group together to do research and co-author work, that I’d be very interested in being a part of it.
At the end of class, my phone started vibrating in my pocket. It was Joe, and checking the message after class, I was not surprised to learn that he wanted to go out tonight. I returned his call and we agreed to meet at 11 at Flex.
It was a fun night in spite of Missy Trixie being the emcee of the show. Hate her. Hate her. Hate her. Joe had a couple of rounds with the “baseball t-shirt guy,” and I spent most of the night talking with Randy, a friend of Steve’s, whom he had introduced me to a few weeks ago.
His situation is very similar to mine. He was married for 16 years, and has recently come out to his wife. However, he has four kids! A girl 17, and three boys, I think he said 11, 9 and 7. Their relationship is very amicable, too. And like us they stayed separated for a while — 2 years — Donna and I stayed separated 3 years until finally getting divorced. I hope things continue to go smoothly for him. It’s all such a heartbreak in a lot of ways.
We left the bar way too late — around 2:30, and got seated at the IHOP at about 2:45. We left at about 3:30. Way too late of a night!
