I got email from the travel agent today with some of the details of our trip with EAGLE (IBM’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Diversity Network Group) members from across the globe.

Sat. September 4, 2004
Arrive in Athens, the cradle of civilization. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to our hotel. After check in, the balance of the day will be at your leisure. Tonight our EAGLE Welcome Dinner at the hotel. After dinner, private mini-vans will be available to take you to and from some of Athens’ hottest nightspots.
Sun. September 5
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for a full day of exploration in Athens. Step back in time as we visit the ancient Acropolis. Our tour will also include the Acropolis Museum, National Archeological Museum, the Olympic Stadium and much more. After our tour, a stop for lunch (not included) in Plaka, one of Athens’ oldest and most charming neighborhoods. After lunch, we continue sightseeing passing the Presidential Palace, Constitution Square, Hadrian’s Arch and the new metro station – including a museum of artifacts found during the construction of the subway. To end our day, a private cocktail reception at a rooftop café, where we will gather to watch the sunset behind the Acropolis. Tonight, mini-vans will be available to take you to and from Athens’ clubs.
Mon. September 6
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to Pireaus, the ancient port city where we board our hydrofoil to Mykonos! Arriving in Mykonos, we will transfer to our hotel. The balance of the day is at your leisure. Explore Mykonos Town, hit the beach or enjoy the pool. Tonight enjoy the jet set nightlife of one of the most exciting islands in the world!
Tue. September 7
A full day of leisure on Mykonos. Many options are available. Rent a jeep or moped and tour the island, take a boat ride to one of Mykonos’ famous gay beaches, shop, lay at the pool or simply stroll the winding streets of town. Tonight you may wish to enjoy dinner at a local taverna, desert at a café on the water or enjoy the clubs and bars.
Wed. September 8
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for a trip to the nearby island of Delos. Delos was the most important Panhellenic sanctuary, and, according to mythology, the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. After our tour of ancient Delos, we return to Mykonos for a day of sun and fun and a night of excitement!
Thu. September 9
Enjoy your last day on Mykonos. This evening is our Farewell Dinner at one of Mykonos’ traditional restaurants.
Fri. September 10
Transfer from the hotel for your return to Athens and your flight home.
Robert came over after work and we had a salad with spaghetti and sauce with Italian sausage and mushrooms. Oh yeah, and that killer garlic bread — Food Lion brand, even.
We watched Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, which I had never seen and Robert has seen about a half dozen times. Bette Davis was vicious.
Movie Synopsis: A cultish horror favourite, 1962’s What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? will make you think twice before hungrily unveiling a covered plate of food. Bette Davis stars as Jane Hudson, a onetime child actress and singer. As an elderly woman, she wishes to revive her vaudevillian career, but she has become a grotesque caricature of her former self. Over the years as her star faded, the star of her older sister Blanche (Joan Crawford) rose, outshining the career of the has-been Baby Jane. Jane was relegated to minor roles, which she only won when Blanche demanded that she be awarded them. The film opens years after a calamitous car accident leaves Blanche in a wheelchair, with no one to care for her except the increasingly insane and sadistic Jane and their servant, Elvira. Trying to punish Blanche for her years of success, Jane tortures the house-bound woman, slowly trying to starve her to death, all the while attempting to recapture the fame of her youth. This dark drama also stars Victor Buono as the hefty pianist who answers Jane’s ad for an accompanist, hoping to milk some money off the demented old woman. Both Buono and Davis were nominated for Oscars for their roles in this suspenseful and somewhat sick thriller that exploited well the real-life antagonism between Davis and Crawford, while at the same time rejuvenating both their careers.
After the movie, in bed, we did a very difficult crossword puzzle from The Independent.
