I met Gregor, and his friend Liz, at Bistro 607 for dinner. The food was very good, but that place is so high-priced, I probably won’t ever go there again unless it’s another occasion for someone I care about. I tasted Liz’s drink, which was so delicious, that I ordered one as my second drink. I don’t even know the name of it, but it had a caramel taste even though it was green! I had a ribeye steak. Gregor had duck. Liz had salmon. Liz and I had salads before the entree, and Gregor had a crabcake. We each had a dessert and coffee. The bill was $161 before the tip. Way too much. With our tip, it was close to $200, and Liz and I split it. I totally didn’t mind it, but wondered about her on a teacher’s salary, though it didn’t seem to faze her in the least. Fortunately, Gregor’s worth it. We had the greatest conversation during this meal, and Liz was just an absolute joy to meet.
At home, I wached the last of the three movies Van and Adam loaned me this time, Longtime Companion. I wept for a whole generation of lost men.
