I devised my “Inquiry Usability Test” for ENG 508 today. The report is due at Monday evening’s class. I did the test on myself, and later in the day, on Robert. It was very interesting, and I learned a lot about my Microwave, which was one of the two objectives of the exercise. The task to do was to defrost an 8-ounce chicken breast. I have one more “subject” scheduled for tomorrow.
I called Uncle Dennis and chatted with him about the Alaskan Cruise my parents are interested in joining them on. It turns out it departs on August 28th, which would allow me to join my parents and them, and he thinks the guy organizing has exactly two cabins left, which would be perfect. It will be a week after I get back from my week in P-Town, but what the hey. Alaska is on my list of places to see before I leave here. Might as well take advantage of the opportunity to do that while having a week with my parents, too. Bonus.
We ran to Skin Sense, and I bought Mary a $50 gift certificate to add to the $90 one we got her from the MSBC for her 50th birthday.
We went to White Rabbit to look for an anniversary card (their 4th) for Shawn and Josh. They had exactly one row, about three feet wide, of Anniversary cards, a third of which were worded such that they would come from one of the partners to the other, a third of which said, “Congratulations on your Union or Commitment Ceremony,” and about two cards that you could give to a couple to congratulate them. One of them was to two guys, and the other one was to two girls, so basically that left a choice of one card to give to Shawn and Josh, and I didn’t like it. I thought this was pitiful. What does it say about celebrating anniversaries in the gay community?
We tried to get a nap in before dancing, and I may have dozed off for a few minutes, but not many. We got to Flex just before 9:00. Dancing was just okay tonight. My stomach was upset the entire night, and that didn’t add to a good time. It got super crowded as the night went by, and we stopped dancing just before 11:00. Richard and Joe stopped by. Steve came with John (the preacherman), and left without him.
The night ended on a regretful downer, that I’ll just leave at that.
