Beach, Snoopy’s, and free pool…

Joe woke up at about 8:30, and I would up at about 9:20, 20 minutes before the alarm was set to go off at 9:40. Checkout time was 11AM.

Joe ran to Port City Java while I stole a few more winks. We had coffee and bagels when he got back.

We checked out at 11, and headed to the beach. We quickly got a parking spot, paid for three hours, and got set up on the beach — just in time to get poured on. At one point we were holding our towels over head, and at points around our head pretending like we were sheiks. It did rain a little bit hard for less than five minutes, and then tapered off quickly, leaving a beautifully sunny day.

We walked down to the Shell Island resort, and back, without incident. No murdered birds.

We ended up leaving earlier than expected, but only because we both thought we’d had enough sun. We gave our parking spot, complete with 1.5 hours left on our parking ticket, to a grateful arrival.

We stopped at Wendy’s on the way out of Wilmington and had lunch. I checked in with Robert, while Joe finished his lunch.

We got back to Raleigh at around 4 or 4:30, and, before parting, agreed to meet at Helios at 7.

I napped from about 4:30 – 6:30. Joe called just after 6:30, and we decided on dinner at Snoopy’s before going to Helios. We met there at 7:15, and each had the Turkey Club sandwich, and split an order of fries.

From there we went to Helios, and right at 8:00, I was thinking, “If the boys are coming out, they’ll probably be here in about 15 minutes.” No sooner had I finished the thought, here comes Kevin, Glenn, David, Eric, and James around the corner. Glenn is a guy Kevin met last Thursday night. James is Eric’s ex-boyfriend with whom he still has relations. But I digress.

We had some fun chat, and at about 9:00, or a little before, Joe and I headed over to Flex.

We got a pool table, and had several fun games of pool. Brian came. Kevin and Glenn came. Joe and Phil were there.

Tula Boxx was the hostess, and she made a funny crack about Happy Skyscraper breaking the ironing board. Brian suggested that he and I go get a new ironing board at Big Lots and bring it for Tula next week. I think that’s a fabulous idea.
