Odds & Ends & TO-DOs…

I dropped my car off at the AAA Autocare Center on Avent Ferry this morning at 7:30, and walked home – not a bad morning walk considering I am so not a morning person.

I took the fortunes out of the two fortune cookies we got with our meal on Saturday. They said:

  • “Your good deeds are never forgotten.”
  • “Your ability to pick a winner will bring you success.”

I called the Apex Funeral Directors, and found out that Kurt’s viewing will be tomorrow night from 6:00 – 8:00, and the funeral some time on Friday. Bummer. Though I’d rather attend the funeral, I will go tomorrow night to pay my final respects.

Mid-afternoon, I called North Raleigh Gastroenternology to schedule my colonoscopy.

Of course, I first have to come in for a “colonoscopy consultation,” at which time we’ll schedule the actual procedure. My consultation (Read: OFFI¢E VI$IT) is scheduled for August 16th.

They have a Cary office that is closer to me than the Six Forks one, so I scheduled it there.

Not having heard from AAA by 3:30, I called to check in with them. They were still looking at the “check engine” codes, and hadn’t gotten to the brakes yet. I guess I should have prioritized the work for them. The brakes are more important to me.

They hemmed and hawed about having a lot of work down there, and having a bunch of cars left over from yesterday (which I noticed when I pulled up this morning), and intimated that they might not get the work done today.

“Well, I need my car for tomorrow,” I said.

“I understand,” he said.

I left my house at 5:25, and walked over to AAA. At 5:45, they were “still working” on my car, and hadn’t solved the electrical problem. The brake work was never done.

They “put the panels back on,” and I took my car. I said, “I’ll drop it off Thursday evening before you close, and pick it up Monday afternoon.”

I left there totally annoyed that nothing had been taken care of. At least they didn’t charge me anything.

At this point, I want to just forget going back there, and take it to a dealer to get it over with.

At home, I checked for Toyota dealers in Raleigh, of which there are only two. I hate Fred Anderson Toyota (past issues that went as far as the Attorney General’s office, and meeting with an arbitrator), though it is by far the most convenient place.

The only other one is Goodman Toyota on Capital, which is so out of my way. Grrrrrrr!

I took a good nap before dancing, and we left the house at around 8:30 or so. It wasn’t very crowded tonight, but I had a good time dancing.
