Homo sweet home…

We got up around 10:30, and were ready to check out at noon as required, and did so using the menu on the television.

I waited out front with our luggage while Robert went to retrieve the car at Union Station. All went smoothly, and we hopped on I-395 South, whose entrance was just a few blocks from our hotel.

As we left the city, we saw the Pentagon off the highway to the right, and Robert said, “It’s hard to believe a plane just crashed right into that building.” It’s September 11th, and we’re traveling again. Last year on September 11th, we were on a flight from Athens to JFK.

Not too long after being on the road, we stopped at a Denny’s for breakfast. We both had the “Two Egg Special,” or something like that — two eggs over easy, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage links, hash browns, and toast.

Back on the road, we eventually hooked up with a white car, with which I kept the same speed — more or less. We took turns being in the lead, and pressing the speed limit. Eventually we hooked up with a third, but not for too long. Top speed: 92MPH.

We thought we’d finally lose the white car as we made a bathroom stop, but he took the exit as well, and gassed up. We got back on the road before he did, though, and never did see him again.

Once back in Raleigh, I napped, and then met Joe at Helios at 7:30. After that we went to Flex.

Brian, his friend Jean, Steve, and eventually Joe and Phil were there.

At close to midnight there was crazy talk by Joe, Steve, and Brian about going to Legends, and I made my exit.
