A racket of rain…

A blogger has devised a list of ways to “get to a human” when you’re stuck in a VRU (Voice Response Unit).

I worked from home today, and attended a 1.5-hour conference call and webcast to learn about the new release of our Integrated Product Development process.

I stopped by the grocery store on the way home, and bought mostly vegetables. My main reason for stopping, though, was to pick up a little something to bring to dancing tonight for Michael’s birthday. I decided on white-chocolate covered pretzels, though, they may have been yogurt-covered pretzels.

Robert arrived at about 7, and he lied down between 7:30 and 8:30. I was on my computer, and listening to podcasts at the same time.

All of a sudden, I thought I could hear a racket out of the window to the back of my house, which was right to my left. I took off the earbuds, and it was pouring like a mo-fo. I didn’t even know we were expecting rain, and I hadn’t heard rain that hard in a long time. Fortunately, it was for a rather short period of time.

We got to Flex at right around 9:00, and the lights to the section that’s the stage, with the pool table, were all turned off, and there was caution tape strung up across that area. It looked like a crime scene.

“What’s up with that?” I asked.

“Oh, earlier, it poured like crazy here, and that whole back wall started leaking. They were mopping up like crazy, and have cordoned off the section as it’s still all wet back there.

Dancing was pretty festive. For the lesson, we reviewed Boogie-Woogie Choo-Choo Train, a dance that I’m not crazy about. It’s just okay. It will probably grow on me. They usually do.

At some point in the evening, we sang Happy Birthday to Michael, and had cake. I was a little disappointed in his reaction to our card.
