Mary and I are members of the Opera Company, so we get to buy our tickets directly from the company instead of having to use Ticketmaster and its ridiculous extra fees and charges. A while ago we got our tickets for Section C, Row K, seats 2-6.
Mary asked today if I could call to see if it was possible to add one more seat as Kelly now wants to take her boyfriend. I called, and after checking, the agent said, “You’re not going to believe this. There is one seat left in that row, and it’s seat 1. It’s your lucky Friday the 13th.” Good thing I don’t have paraskevidekatriaphobia or friggatriskaidekaphobia.

I had an unsatisfactory e-mail exchange with my COM 487 professor about blog paragraphs and chunking. I decided to just drop the issue. It can’t be good to start off the semester arguing with the professor.
The fact that we disagree on the topic is not what worries me. It was the tone of the response, which came across as “this is the way it is,” or at least, “this is the way it’s going to be in this class.” Oh well — certainly not worth setting myself up for a potential bad grade about. Besides, “tone” in e-mail is an easily misinterpreted thing.
On the up side, in one of the blog entries for the class someone referred to her as Dr. Silva, so that answered this question.
Registration for the Queen City Stomp opened today. I reserved a King Suite at the Morgan Hotel & Suites for us for the three days. The suite comes with a little kitchen in it:
