MSBC, work, a walk, and a call…

The Mostly Social Book Club (MSBC) met for lunch today, with Suzanne, Sharon, and myself in attendance. Mary was working from home, and Janet had to be home to meet the air-conditioning repair man.

A book was mentioned today: Memoirs of a Geisha. It’s Janet’s turn to choose our next book, and this is what she has chosen.

In true MSBC fashion, no mention of when we’re to start reading this book, and more importantly, by when we we’re to be finished, has been declared.

I’ve already read this book — back when I was in a book club. I had to go through our 10-year schedule to find what year.

Book of the Year: Memoirs of a Geisha and The Reader (Tied)
Meeting of the Year: The Reader and The Things They Carried (Tied)

I attended our one-hour department meeting today, which was hardly fascinating.

The people in this picture are not in my department. I chose it, because it captures the essence of the excitement of our meeting.

I had my 30-minute bi-monthly “one-on-one” meeting with my manager, who works in Austin.

The weather was awesome today, and I did the 3-mile walk around Lake Johnson after work. The weather was so nice that all three parking lots were full when I got there.

I ended up circling the lot in which one is least likely to get a spot in, which is the lot I tried last, of course, and lo and behold, at the end of the loop there, two cars next to each other pulled out, and the car in front of me got one, and I got the other. Yay!

I listened to a combination of podcasts and music while walking today.

I met Kevin (av8rdude) and Joe at Flex for scareyoke.

When I got home, I had a most disconcerting voice mail message on my phone, about which I’m going to blog in a private entry for today. Sorry.
