Usability work complete, a day of editing, drinks with Viv, a nap, and some trash…

Before IBM work today, I finished up my usability report for the DELTA folks, and e-mailed it to the team.

My entire workday for IBM was spent editing Tracey’s Admin Guide.

I edited about 10 pages, then stopped and ran the Terminology Extraction tool on her source files, and made tons of markups using that. Cool.

At about 4:30, Vivian called from the North Raleigh Hilton, where she was attending a conference, and asked me to run over and join her for a few drinks, which I did.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you were driving, say 55 miles per hour, and just yanked up the hand brake? Well, let me tell you.

I had just hung up the phone from talking to my dad, put my cell phone down in the drink cup, and for some ungodly reason, yanked up on the hand brake. It makes no sense at all. It’s not like I have a manual transmission or anything.

A sudden “drag” for just a moment; well of course, then I immediately put it back down. I just felt that there was no way yanking on that hand brake would help me stop if my brakes fail, which is what I’m sure I’ve read is supposed to happen.

I met three of Vivian’s friends (two colleagues of hers, and a friend of one of the colleagues), but Vivian and I mostly talked together for about an hour. They were joining about 17 other people for dinner next door at Bahama Breeze at 6:30.

It was short, but a great visit. Always a fun time with my sistah.

I napped from 9:00 until 11:00, and then met Kevin (av8rdude) out at Flex for Trailer Park Prize Night, which was pretty uneventful.

Mary K. Mart hosted, and Brandon was in the show, performing second, and doing Hollaback Girl. And quite well at that.

Kevin and I left as soon as the show was over.
