Editing, investing, and disgusting…

I worked from home today, and completed ITIM help panel edits for the writers in India.

I met with Nathan today. My financial life remains intact and in good health.

Late in the afternoon, Kevin (zy1125) instant messaged me to invite me to take advantage of an extra pass he had to see Jesus Camp at the Colony Theater at 7:00. I took it.

There was a lady at the door, and she asked us if we would mind providing comments after the movie. We accepted a piece of paper that asked for our gender, our age, and contained some blank lines for comments.

It was fairly empty in the theater as we’d gotten there 30 minutes early, and not five minutes later five or six incredibly immature youngsters sat down behind us.

After the first minute-and-a-half or so of the movie, Kevin turned around and said, “Would you guys please stop talking?” Loved that.

I left that movie pretty much just speechless. This is what my comment card looked like:

Male: X   Female: ____   Age: 48

Comments: “Profoundly disturbing. I can’t fathom what people were laughing about in this movie. I didn’t hear a thing that was anything less than terrifying.”

Movie Synopsis: A growing number of Evangelical Christians believe there is a revival underway in America that requires Christian youth to assume leadership roles in advocating the causes of their religious movement.

JESUS CAMP, directed by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (The Boys of Baraka), follows Levi, Rachael, and Tory to Pastor Becky Fischer’s “Kids on Fire” summer camp in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota, where kids as young as 6 years old are taught to become dedicated Christian soldiers in “God’s army.”

The film follows these children at camp as they hone their “prophetic gifts” and are schooled in how to “take back America for Christ.” The film is a first-ever look into an intense training ground that recruits born-again Christian children to become an active part of America’s political future.

Later I met Joe and Kevin (av8rdude) at Flex for Trailer Park Prize Night, and idled away my last few hours of being 48 years old.

Just after midnight, Kevin and Joe bought us a round of shots, along with a round of drinks. When they went to pay, Brigner said, “The shots are on me.” I was shotcked! [sic]
