Work meetings, STC member meeting and faculty meet and greet…

I went into the office today — after the traffic, and in time for my one-on-one phone meeting with my manager, which she ended up canceling 20 minutes after it was to start.

I half-listened in on a conference call from 11:00 – 12:00, as it was a presentation about something I already knew about. I ran back and forth to the printer/scanner trying to figure out why every other page of a document I scanned in was “grayed out.” I ended up trying the scanner on the floor above ours, and it worked just fine.

I attended a noon – 1:00 team status meeting, which but about for 3 minutes, was a waste of my time. I edited a document during the rest of the time.

We had our STC Member Meeting — Faculty Meet & Greet at Bruegger’s on Hillsborough Street from 5:00 – 6:00 tonight. Four faculty attended, and in addition to me, Jenn, the other Jenn, Sarah, Milton, and Kim on the board, a guy named John, Lee Ann, and Christin attended.

We actually had a great discussion, and Sarah was impressed that we’d manage to draw four faculty members and have a lively discussion to boot.

Today’s affirmation was from Jenn, who was charged as the facilitator of the meeting, in an e-mail I received from her after the meeting:

I just wanted to say thank you for your help today. You did a great job stimulating conversation and helped me to feel more comfortable.

I’ve even picked up a few tips from you on facilitating group discussions. I thought it was great how you got the attention of everyone with the gambling poll. Wow–I wouldn’t have ever thought to do that!

Anyway, thanks. I really appreciate it.
