A meatless kind of day, and Trailer Park Prize Night…

I worked from home this morning.

I took an extended lunch today, and attended a meeting at NCSU. This was a lunch meeting, with a group of professors, staff, and a couple of community partners, with special guest Bob Bringle of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, called IUPUI for short, and pronounced “ewy-pooey,” but not in front of the people from there.

I spent the time leading up to the meeting downstairs greeting folks, providing parking passes to those who needed one, so was one of the last to grab lunch.

I loaded my Kaiser roll with lettuce, tomato, and onion, cheese, and not finding any meat, or even an empty tray where the meat was, I thought, “Oh my. Don’t tell me they forgot to put the sandwich meat out. And no one has said anything?”

I went to the kitchen area, where I found Myra, and I said, “Myra, I’m happy to eat a ‘veggie’ and cheese sandwich, but is there any more meat?”

“Oh, there is no meat. Patti is a vegetarian. We never have any meat when she hosts a luncheon or dinner.”

This evening I attended a greeting, dinner, and workshop hosted by Patti for about 45 people across the state. For dinner, we had a spinach dish set nicely in a bed of mashed potatoes. I simply am not going to entertain the possibility that the spinach was not screened for e. coli.

I met Kevin (av8rdude) and Kurt for Trailer Park Prize Night. Alexis Perry hosted, with Busted Cherry on the mic in the back. Surprisingly, and thankfully, there weren’t too many catty, queeny, drag queen quips exchanged.

One number was pretty hilarious, when three of the drag queens, all in matching dresses, fought over a big bag of Pork Rinds while they sang. And one of them was spitting Pork Rinds out of her mouth as she was “singing with her mouth open.”
