Bonsai watermelons, Service NC State, and a solicitation for cell phones…

I told my three year old son that he was putting his shoes on the wrong feet and he responded that they were the only feet that he had.

My very married, sixty-year-old father obviously doesn’t know that you can search by e-mail address on Myspace since he has a page that says he’s thirty, single, and there for “dating.”

Don’t you hate how awkward a watermelon is in your fridge until you cut it up? Evidently, the Japanese have decided to address this issue. Actually, for them, it’s a space issue.

I spent the afternoon at Helios, where I did a little bit of homework reading for ENG 515, but for the most spot spent way too much time playing one of the Top 5 Most Addictive Games—3D Logic Cube.

I met the STC volunteers participating with us in the set up for Service NC State. Our Co-President, Andrew, organized this event for us.

We met at the stairs in front of the Talley Student Center, and when the moving truck arrived, we unloaded two different sized tubs and two different sized bags of food from it, and brought them inside Carmichael Gymnasium.

Tomorrow, during the actual Service NC State event, between 1500 and 2000 volunteers will package 300,000 dehydrated, fortified rice-soy meals containing over 20 vitamins and minerals especially formulated for the undernourished. 150,000 meals will be sent to Petit Goave, Haiti with an organization called Haiti Vision, and the other 150,000 meals to Senegal.

On Wednesday, September 26th, I’m taking two old cell phones I have to a Recycle Day. If you’re like me you have at least one old cell phone that you’ve been “meaning to” re-cycle. If you can get yours to me before that date, I’d be happy to turn in yours as well.
