I was up quite early this morning—at 7:00.
I heard that woodpecker making quite the racket in the back of my townhouse, but when I went to the guest room windows back there, it had stopped and didn’t do it again within the few minutes I stayed there. After getting downstairs, and putting on coffee, it started back up again. I opened the door to my deck and stepped out to see if I could catch it in action. It was on the eave of my neighbor’s place, pounding away at either the gutter or the siding, presumably not having much success pecking, but making a racket nonetheless. It flew off as soon as it saw me out there. It was a big f*cker. |
I met Joe at Hibernian [Site has been suspended: Account for domain www.hibernianpub.com has been suspended. www.hibernianpub.com That can’t be good.], where we enjoyed their Sunday buffet. I had to see if it was as good as it was last week, and make sure that it’s still good before Robert and I go back there again next weekend. That’s my story, and it’s sticking to me.
I hung out at Helios from about 12:30 until about 4:15.
I worked on the redesign of my home page, which I’ve been looking forward to getting to, but in the end, did not feel good about the progress, which was a letdown.
I worked on creating photo albums for the photo section of my blog, which I did by downloading some freeware that creates HTML pages that comprise an album. Problem was, after all the work of naming the photos and creating captions, I really didn’t like the photo album format that the HTML renders. Grrrrr!
The other thing that was a downer about it was that it’s a lot of work, I’ve only done two albums, which I don’t even like now, and I have many, many albums that I want to create. Oh well!
Kevin (av8rdude) and I were going to go to the gym, and I was waiting at Helios for his call saying that he was ready to go. When I got tired of working on the home page, and was just about to freeze to death in the place, I closed up my laptop and sat outside on the patio in the 90° weather and thawed out, while reading more of Eat, Pray, Love, which is surprisingly engaging me. One thing for sure, I am absolutely loving my first large print book.
At about 4:10, Kevin checked in saying that he was going to be unable to make the gym today after all, and as I wasn’t really feeling up to it at all, I blew it off, too. Now I’m like that entry in yesterday’s onesentence.org: I’m feeling guilty about not feeling guilty about not working out.
Back at the house, I read for about another hour, and then I took a 1.5-hour nap.
I stopped by Flex for karaoke, had one drink, played two games of solo pool, and then went over to see the show at Legends.
I didn’t even have a drink there, watched the opening number, and left just as the second number started, which was Miss Jackie O’Knight performing. It’s hard to take her seriously as a “real” drag queen, as I’ve always known her as a drag queen in Flex’s Trailer Park Prize Night show, which is pure “booger” drag.
(boo’-gur drag) adj. Term used in the deep South; a lazy form of drag practiced by men and women resulting in ill fitting garb, sexually confused makeovers and various other twisted results; often practiced in combination with the consumption of large amounts of alcohol. |
