Gadgets, humor, exercising, interviewing, bowling, and dancing…

Gadgets. My alarm went off at 8:30. I meandered downstairs to the coffee pot, which had also triggered an event at 8:30. The coffee was still brewing. I wanted more aroma. I rubbed the click wheel of another, somewhat-temperamental-these-days, gadget, saying, “You gonna play for me this morning, baby?” Turned out it was a wheel of fortune this time, as the soundtrack from Ladies in Lavender started right up.

Aside: I love when I choose a word and it turns out to be the perfect word. Case in point: I waffled between meandered and sauntered before settling on meandered in the previous paragraph, and since I have somewhat of a spiral staircase, meandered is definitely the better choice. But I digress…

Those of you who know me, know I’m a huge fan of puns. Imagine my delight then, when someone posted this on on my Beehive page:

I knew a guy who sent ten different puns to each of his friends, hoping that at least one of the puns would make them laugh. No pun in ten did.

And while we’re joking around:

Siamese twins walk into a pub in Vancouver, B.C. and park themselves on a bar stool.

One of them says to the innkeeper, “Don’t mind us, we’re joined at the hip. I’m Joe, he’s Jim, we’ll have two Molson Canadian beers, draft please.”

The innkeeper, feeling slightly awkward, tries to make polite conversation while pouring the beers.

“Been on holiday yet, boys?”

“Off to England next month,” says Joe. “We go to England every year, rent a car and drive for miles, don’t we, Jim?”

Jim agrees.

“Ah, England,” says the innkeeper. “Wonderful country… the history, the beer, the culture…”

“Nah, we don’t like that British crap,” says Joe. “Hamburgers & Molson’s beer, that’s us, eh Jim? And we can’t stand the English – they’re arrogant and rude.”

“So why keep going to England?” asks the innkeeper.

Joe replies, “It’s the only chance Jim gets to drive.”

Kevin (av8rdude) and I had a rather short workout today. I did my upper body routine, and a less-than-normal number of crunches, but not because I couldn’t do more, but due to time constraints. Today’s statistics:

Wayne Sutton (@waynesutton) interviewed me today about my blogging commitment and experience. Sound bites from it will be used in a segment being posted to 30THREADS on Friday, and a longer version of it may be used for an upcoming Local Conversations segment.

I thought it went terribly, but I hate doing video and avoid it whenever I can. I did this as one of those “out of my comfort zone” “personal growth” experiences. Wayne seemed pleased with it, and said as much, which I appreciated.

There was a “Bowling Tweetup” (i.e., some local people who use Twitter met to bowl) at Western Lanes on Hillsborough Street. It was a lot of fun, and I got to meet some new people to boot: @Clarkey96, @jazzychad, @CutieKim9, @clubjuggler, @RachelRosenberg, CommunityMGR, and @nivex to name a few. Though I hadn’t bowled in probably three years, it did come back to me for the second game. I got Jason (@DiMambro) to take a picture of my score.

Dancing was okay tonight. As per the norm now, we stopped dancing between 10 and 10:30 to watch Sordid Lives: The TV Series on Logo. We tried to do a couple of line dances during the commercials, but we weren’t able to finish them.
