A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside.
“That laundry is not very clean,” she said. “She doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.” Her husband looked on, but remained silent. Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments. About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: “Look, she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this?” The husband said, “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.” And so it is with life. What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look. |
I had a decent work day today. I had my 15-cent cup of coffee, and received four free oranges from people who bought boxes of them a while back from the child of a co-worker selling them as a school fundraiser.
My back was absolutely killing me today—so much so that it eclipsed any knee pain I might have been having. I have got to get back to my ab crunches.
I met Joe at Flex at about 9:50, where he sat in the parking lot talking to his sister on the phone until about 10:20.
They had a “guest emcee” tonight, as Chastity called in sick at the last minute and David was working at Legends tonight. It was obvious that the guy was not a “regular” karaoke emcee—here or anywhere. Also, the words to the songs did not display for the audience, which always just ruins karaoke for me.
Joe and I played three games of pool, and after realizing that the tragedy that karaoke was, was not going to get any better, we left.
