Farewell breakfast w/Kevin, some exercising, returning to dancing, and a matter of hirsuteness…

Kevin (av8rdude), Kurt, and I met Dave/Jace at Pam’s Farmhouse Restaurant at 8:15, and I was absolutely stunned at the number of cars in the parking lot at the place. Surprisingly though, we were seated immediately.

Dave did his typical “Sally” ordering. [Harry from When Harry Met Sally: “I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich.”] The rest of us ordered normally. 🙂

Waitress: What would you like to drink?

John: “Coffee.”
Kevin: “Coffee.”
Kurt: “A small orange juice.”
Dave: “I want water, but just put a very little bit of ice in it.”

Waitress: “And to eat, gentleman?”

John: “I’ll have the sausage and cheddar omelet with wheat toast please.”
Kevin: “Two eggs, applesauce, and a biscuit.”
Kurt: “Two eggs, applesauce, and a biscuit.”
Dave: “Who made the biscuits this morning?”
Waitress: “I don’t know, but they’re good. They’re soft and warm.”
Dave: “Did the Hispanic woman make them?”
Waitress: “Yes. Probably. I mean she was back there this morning when they were made, so she probably made them. They’re good. I’m not kidding you.”
Dave: “Okay. One egg. Sunny-side up, applesauce, and I’ll have the biscuit. And meat. Kevin you want to split some meat?”
Kevin: “Yes.”
Dave: “What kind? Sausage?”
Kevin: “Yeah, that’s fine.”
Dave: “What kind? Smoked?”
Kevin: “Uh…”
Dave: “Bacon? How ’bout bacon?”
Kevin: “Yes, bacon’s good.”
Dave: “Crispy bacon, please.”

And later, mid-meal:

Dave: “This biscuit’s not good. It’s dry.”

We said our goodbyes to Kevin in the parking lot, as he was dropping Kurt back off by his house and then heading to RDU for his flight back to Seattle.

Shortly after getting back home, I took a two-hour nap.

I got to the gym at about 3:30, where I did:

  1. Crunches on the ab cruncher bench: 15 sets of 20 each, for 300 crunches total.
  2. Lower back, lower abdomen, and leg stretching for 15 minutes.
  3. 20 minutes on the elliptical machine, burning 295 calories.

I heated up some ham slices in some pineapple tidbits, and its juice, along with a dollop of brown sugar melted into it. With it, I had some brown rice.

I put portions of each aside, and in the oven, for Robert when he arrived a little later.

We got to Flex at just before 9:00, where it was “Tattoo Night”—3 or more tattoos on your body and you got in free. If you get there before 9:00, and you’re a member, it’s free anyway, and so it was for us. (I have no tattoos, but do know which one I’d get it and where I’d get it.)

Tonight was my first night back dancing since my knee surgery, and it felt pretty good. There were one or two times when I was doing a step that involved somewhat of a sharp turn that I felt it in my knee, but other than that smooth sailing. Robert and I had a very nice waltz, which we haven’t done in a long time.

In the category of, “I can’t believe she just said that…” at one point in the evening, after commenting that my leg hair was taking just a little too long to grow back for my taste, one of the dancers said, “That’s because you’re not hairy.”

I’m not hairy? Huh? Then what’s all this?
