Queen City Stomp 2009—Day 2

We got up at around 10:00, and Robert made coffee in the little 4-cup hotel coffee maker, after which we walked to the IHOP for a late breakfast.

We had the best service, and on the way out, I asked to speak to the manager: “I just wanted to let you know that our server, Kristin, was excellent. We had the best service, and it’s obvious that everyone is working as a team here.”

He replied, “Well, thank you! We really do try to work as a team here.”

“Well, it’s obvious. I hope you’ll share that with your staff.”

“Thank you, sir. I will. You have a good day.”

I devised Friday’s blog entry, while Robert worked on a crossword puzzle. I helped with the very few last clues, a couple of which we used the Internet to solve/confirm. We also got an afternoon nap in.

We skipped the 5:00-7:00 cocktails at Hartigan’s, another local club.

We had dinner at the KFC just in front of the hotel. Robert walked over and got us each their $3.99 special of Grilled Chicken (a breast and a wing), mashed potatoes and gravy, their most delicious slaw (we both love it), and a biscuit, which he brought back to the room for us.

We opened up “party central” (a.k.a. our room) at 8:00. Chris, Ross, and Patrick stopped by, and we enjoyed drinks, potato chips (regular and BBQ), some FlipSides (part pretzel, part cheddar cracker), along with some sliced ham and Swiss cheese.

We had the Dixie Sluts (I and III) on the iPod, and between Ross, Chris and me, we couldn’t remember how to do Funky Cowboy, even with the help of Google and YouTube.

At 9:00, we had just put everything away, Chris, Ross, and Patrick had left, we were getting changed, and a knock at our door presented to us two people we didn’t know. There names were Chris and Jeff, and they said, “We’re with Joe (Judge), who wasn’t with them.

Turns out he was supposed to be just ahead of them, but they had beat him there. Joe arrived a couple of minutes later, and all of us headed over to The Eagle for tonight’s Cattle Call Ball.

The line dances I can recall from tonight included:

  • Mucara Walk
  • Tush Push (twice)
  • Mmm-bop
  • Chill Factor
  • Georgia Winder
  • Hanky Spanky
  • Dizzy
  • Circle Jerk
  • Walk the Line
  • Watermelon Crawl
  • Badonkadonk
  • Rocket
  • Texas Tattoo

Within the last 5-10 minutes of the night, Robert and I did a shadow dance, and ended with a slow-grinding two-step around the dance floor, taking us right up to 2AM.

Back at the room, Robert checked out the After Hours Party, and kindly brought up a slice of pepperoni pizza for me, which was delicious!

I was totally exhausted, and hopped right in the bed with my full tummy and promptly dropped off to sleep.
