A struggling food day, a taxing day, an intense workout, and some free pool…

~Sunday~  I reveled in eight hours of glorious sleep.

Today was a struggle of an eating day, having to count “yesterday’s 4th meal” in today’s calorie intake. No fun.

Another awesome (“deaf”) Def Poetry entry!

I spent a couple of hours doing taxes today. I’ve used Turbo Tax to do my taxes for years, but switched to H&R Block this year after learning that the H&R Block software will import previous year’s data from Turbo Tax. Turbo Tax jacked its prices up again this year, and as far as I’m concerned, it hit the tipping point at which I’m no longer willing to purchase it.

I’m happy to report that it all went smoothly, although I wasn’t happy at the end, when going to use the five free e-files you’re allowed it said that I should e-file both my federal and state at the same time, and that the NC State program is $29.99 and then it would be either $14.95 or $19.95 (something like that) to e-file the state forms. Ripoff!

I don’t think this is unique to H&R Block, so I’m not holding that against them, per se. This whole e-filing business is a ripoff—all in the name of making it more convenient for the taxpayer. Right.

I’m going to mail our federal forms in, and I’m going to complete the NC State forms on paper, which if I remember from the last time I did them manually is mostly, “From 1040, Line 43…”. 30 bucks to do that “automatically” for you. Did I mention ripoff!?!

I went to the gym mid-afternoon, where I did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. I listened to exercise music, and according to the machine, burned off 1194 calories.

Back home, I browned some Butterball Ground Turkey 93/7 in some Durn Good marinade and made a killer salad with it on the top. Delicious.

I was exhausted from my workout, as I really pushed myself to finish it at the end, so I took a two-hour nap from 5:30-7:30.

I met Joe at Flex at 9:30 for karaoke and some free pool. It was dead in there when we arrived, but people trickled in eventually, although not ever to what I would describe as a “crowd.”

After a couple of games of pool, we walked over to The Borough, where there were about eight people in the place, and we had one drink each and Joe ordered The Carne, of which I ate one-fourth and he ate three-fourths. Who’s counting? Did I mention I was struggling with today’s calorie count?

Back at home by about 11:20, I made a few Scrabble moves, and then edited Patti and Kirk’s wedding vows.

I got to bed at a reasonable hour for a change.
