~Tuesday~ I caught the 8:15 city bus in today, and none of my regular characters were aboard. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t have anything to talk about.
There were only four people on the bus, all of color, including a lady sitting across from me, knitting, using gray wool and a turquoise needle that was only about 3-4 inches in length. I’ve never seen a knitting needle that short. And, actually, as I write that I’m thinking, “Don’t you use two needles to knit?” Perhaps she wasn’t knitting at all.
Another lady sat further back wearing hijab head wear. The other two people were nondescript guys.
At a subsequent stop, two people of “all colors,” that is to say “white,” boarded the bus. They were college kids and one of them had on an NC State Engineering sweatshirt.
At the Gorman and Western stop, a handsome Hispanic boy boarded. His jet black hair was greased back with a part down the middle, he had a patch of dark fuzz on his chin, and his white shirt with vertical and grouped red/pink and blue/light blue stripes pulled just a little around his tummy and was unbuttoned down to the middle of his chest. He clutched it together as he possibly saw me looking at his exposed hairy chest.
Today was weigh-in day, and I’m down another two pounds, which is good. With that said, however, I spent a lot of time today thinking about food, feeling hungry, and just generally thinking about the difference between “eating to live” and “living to eat.”
Our boss, Jude, was the only one to bring food—90-calorie snack bars—to our staff meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, she tilted her laptop screen back and knocked over her 12-ounce full coffee mug sending a stream of liquid over several of Rhonda’s papers, along with a large brown spot on the sleeve of her blouse. Oops.
My other work meeting was a meeting that was scheduled for 30 minutes, but went 60. I’ve got to find a more positive way to deal with the lack of calendar integrity in my job. I know for a fact that churning inside, getting more and more exasperated as the overtime minutes tick by, is not a healthy coping mechanism.
I had every intention of going to the gym this evening, especially since I didn’t get there yesterday, but it just didn’t happen. I didn’t get home until after 6:30, and the first thing I tended to was dinner. See item about hunger and food above!
By the time I finished up with that, it was close to 7:30, and I took a look at the NC State tax form and, soon, I was engrossed in it. As I expected, it was so not worth paying H&R Block $29.95 for a download to have the information transferred automatically from my federal return. I finished up both mine and Robert’s.
I did my homework for tomorrow night’s class, and then got to bed at a reasonable hour. By a reasonable hour, I mean before midnight.
