An ambivalent new phone, bugs in the pavers, and Einstein’s insanity…

~Saturday~  I woke up at about 10:00 and got up at around 10:30. Xolani had started a load of his laundry and was out on the deck getting ready to start washing out a suitcase I gave him to take back with him, since his belongings seem to have multiplied while he was here.

At around 11:30 or so, we headed out to Crossroads, where I dropped Xolani off at Kohl’s to buy some sandals, while I ran over to the Verizon Wireless store and took care of my “phone situation.” I ended up getting a Blackberry Tour, which I’m ambivalent about—excited to have it, not excited about the $40 increase it’ll bring to my monthly phone bill.

Returning back to Kohl’s and while searching for Xolani in the store, I ran into David Rhodes, who led me to E-Ching, both of whom I haven’t seen in forever. We caught up a little and I asked her if she’d received her invitation to the MS in Technical Communication 20th Anniversary Alumni Reception, which she hadn’t. It was a fortuitous meeting, and I promised to forward the invitation to her when I got home.

We stopped by K-Mart on the way back from there, where I was going to buy four more pavers for out back in front of my shed, but after loading two of them into a cart, I noticed these tiny red bugs crawling on them. Not wanting them to get into the trunk of my car, I put them back, and we left as we came—empty-handed.

Once home, I made a quick trip to the grocery store, and then worked on Thursday’s blog entry.

After that, I probably spent a couple of hours doing geeky, gadgety stuff like learning a little about my Blackberry’s operation, updating the operating system on my iTouch, downloading the latest release of iTunes, and downloading the Grindr application in anticipation of a potential appearance at Flex tonight, where it was “Blackout & Grindr” night, meaning the lights were going to be out and you got in free if you showed the Grindr app on your smart device at the door. Girl’s all about free.

Xolani was expecting to be picked up by Duma to go out at 8:30, but he didn’t show up until 9:30, and after a quick change of (Xolani’s) clothes, they headed out. It’s good that they have a friend here now who drives.

I ended up going down to Flex, arriving there at about 10:15. I spent most of the time hiding (in the dark, yay!) in a corner and just observing. I left there at about 11:15. Another night of “should’ve stayed home.” Albert Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Touché.
