~Tuesday~ I was up at 5:15 this morning, and out of the house by 5:30. I picked up Joe at his house at 5:45 and dropped him off in the Delta Airlines area at about 6:05 for his trip to Key West. Lucky bugger.
I was back in my bed by 6:30, and although I was absolutely exhausted I couldn’t fall back asleep until after 7:00. My alarm went off at 7:35, and I absolutely couldn’t believe the dream I woke up from. I just went crazy remembering it, trying to capture it before it faded away. I made a few voice notes on my phone about it, so I wouldn’t have to write it all down.
The thing that I couldn’t get over about it was that, in the dream I went through about five hours of a day, but in reality it all happened in 30 minutes. I mean I just couldn’t believe only 30 minutes had gone by.
I was going to try and translate what I recorded, but listening later in the day to the recordings, they’re kind of funny, because you can hear how drowsy I still was when I recorded them, and how it all sounds so “full of wonder.” If you can listen to MP3s and are interested here they are: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV. Bless my mess.
Stagnant Driver pulled up in the mobile oven at 8:25, and after I sat down I got a slight whiff of my breath, and I wondered if it was bad or not. I’d brushed my teeth when I got up at 5:30, but I didn’t brush them again after waking up after that 30-minute sleep and dream.
The girl who works at Pack Backers got on, and she had on a t-shirt that said, “I [heart] used books.” Li’l Dino boarded right behind her and said hello as she passed me.
We had our weekly one-hour staff meeting from 9:00-10:00. Uneventful.
I finished, and distributed, the minutes, including action items, of last week’s Student E-mail Implementation Team meeting.
I had dinner in Cary at Booci’s Italian restaurant at 7:30 with a subset of the team who went to Thibodaux for Alternative Spring Break. Those present included: Tierza, Jackie, Casey, Mark, Rachel, Matt, and myself. We actually did little, if any, reminiscing about the trip, but instead looked to the present and the new school year—what classes folks were taking, and a little about any service trips folks are considering for this upcoming year.
I had a bourbon and Diet Coke and their Stromboli with a house salad for dinner, and it was quite good. The Stromboli was stuffed with pepperoni, meatball, sausage, green peppers, onions, and Mozzarella cheese.
It was good to see “the kids” again. Thanks for organizing, Mark!
