The heat is on, some androgyny, bus window shopping, overcharged@K-Mart, & Cinderella scrubs…

~Tuesday~  Stagnant Driver opened the doors to the mobile pressure cooker between 8:25 and 8:30, a little behind schedule. There were a couple of windows open, which helped to let off a little steam—literally and figuratively.

I took a seat behind a person whose hair was a maze of tangles, or amazingly tangled, and whose gender caused me cognitive dissonance—presenting bodily features that all signaled female, while sporting enough chin and mustache whiskers to say, no, definitely male. I’m not exactly sure if it was said person or not, but someone near me had enough body odor to make me have to change my seat after a couple of minutes, as I started to feel nauseated.

Just after turning onto Gorman street, Stagnant Driver flipped on what I presumed was the air-conditioning; however, what first came out was heat. Out of the pressure cooker into the frying pan. I thought, “Has she lost her freaking mind?” After running a bit, though, it seemed to get cooler.

The black lady with the St. Timothy’s School bag who I’ve mentioned in the past and I think even included a picture of once, sat across from me. She was flipping through a Serengeti Casual Women’s Clothing and Fashion Accessories catalog, and when she finished that, she whipped out a Spiegel catalog.

I didn’t know it then, but I was to think about her later in the day, when I saw a Twitter link to an article called, “Why Window Shopping is Bad for You.”

I had a frustrating work morning, as my e-mail was unavailable until well after noon. Fortunately, I had an edit to do on a printed document, so I was able to do that in the morning.

Once I was able to access my e-mail, I had a lot of it to go through, even after only being out one day. It made me think about Google’s recently announced Priority Inbox functionality and how it might have come in handy right then.

In the evening, I ran to K-Mart where I secured the following items:

  1. my refilled 30-day Lisinopril prescription
  2. facial tissues
  3. a three-pronged three outlet plug
  4. two 25-packs of blank audio CDs, which were marked down from $15.99 to $7.99
  5. two 9-volt batteries
  6. ten AA batteries
  7. a travel-size (that meets airlines’ specifications) plastic container for liquids or lotions
  8. car windshield washing fluid
  9. Lysol Mold & Mildew Remover
  10. a new broom

When I got home, I checked my receipt on which I noticed that the cashier charged me full price—$15.99 each—for those two sets of blank CDs. Grrrr! Those’ll be going back tomorrow, or as soon as I can get back over there.

I spent a good portion of the rest of the night straightening up, vacuuming, and cleaning bathrooms. I couldn’t find my mop bucket, which was last used by Xolani out on my deck, so I had to stop short of mopping the floors, which I can do tomorrow night along with the dusting.

That’ll make me good to go for Kevin’s (av8rdude‘s) arrival on Thursday—barring any travel plan fallout for him due to Hurricane Earl.
