Carlos and Kim’s Wedding in Park City, Utah…

~Saturday~  I got up earlier than I anticipated, and as beautiful as that king size bed looked, its mattress was not as firm I prefer and my back was hurting a little. That, together with breathing through my mouth instead of my nose all night, which resulted in waking up once at 2:30, again at about 3:15, again at 4:30, and again at 6:30, made for a restless night. I got up at 6:30, but after an hour fell back asleep until about 9:00.

After seeing that Anna made a Scrabble move on Facebook, I made one, and then she called me, because she knew I was up, too. Who says social media isn’t valuable?

We agreed to meet in the lobby in a little bit, and we walked over to the Wasatch Bagels Cafe, just across a street from our hotel in a little shopping area. This place had some killer eye candy, consisting mostly of hot skiers with more of them in shorts than I would have thought with the temperature in the high 50s, low 60s.

We were there for several hours and I caught up Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s, and Thursday’s blog entries, which I was thrilled about, and Anna did some RTI work. We also had nice, intermittent conversation during that time, including my having the opportunity to hear what Anna finds attractive in profiles of men on dating websites.

We headed back to the hotel at just after 2:00, when Anna was committed to taking some pictures of that girlie kind of stuff that goes on on wedding day—you know, hair, nails, and make-up. I used the time to finish up Thursday’s blog entry and to iron my dress shirt and sports coat.

Anna and I met in the lobby at 5:15, and we headed over to the Temple Har Shalom, which was about five minutes away, in plenty of time for the 6:30 service. Anna was going to be taking photos during the service, as the official photographer was actually in the wedding and couldn’t very well bee-bop in and out and around the bima.

Here are a few pics hanging out before the ceremony started:

When I first looked at this donation wall, I read the playground one so fast that I at first thought it said, “Lea and Harry Potter,” which would have been kind of cool, actually.

Here are some pictures of the ceremony, starting with the pre-ceremony one of the bride and groom outside:

I just took a couple of pics at the reception:

The Dinner Menu

For the appetizer, I chose the flat bread and Anna chose the calamari and then we split them both.

Anna and I both thought that that “Insalata Mista” was about the best damn salad either of us has ever eaten. If you can’t read the description, it says, “Butterleaf Lettuce, Radicchio and Escarole with a Dijon-Dill Vinaigrette.”

I had the Free Range Organic Chicken for my entrée, and it was absolutely delicious!

We sat with Sonia, and the Best Man, and Kim and Carlos, too! We were honored guests.

Human-made Chairs!

There’s a tradition of lifting both the bride and the groom up in the air while they’re sitting on chairs, but there not really being chairs conducive to such antics, friends made chairs out of their crossed arms, and lifted Kim and Carlos up. Great fun!

It was a long, fun day, and we got back to the hotel around 11:00, 11:30, and once again I hit the sack toute de suite.
