Sleeping in, crying to the cable company, and hitting up the holy trinity…

~Saturday~  I slept in this morning. Oh glorious weekend.

I devised my blog entry from yesterday, which included the blow-by-blow of my Time-Warner Cable high speed modem upgrade customer service fiasco, and afterward I cut and pasted all of it into a feedback form on their website.

Later in the day I received this response from them:

Dear Mr. Martin,

So, we’ll see where that leads to on Monday.

At the gym, I did 225 (15 sets of 15 reps) ab crunches, which I followed up with an upper body workout for a change.

Even though I knew it had been too long since I last did this routine to do it at the same weight settings as I did it the last time, and I knew I’d regret it tomorrow, I did it anyway.

I started reading Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers today. It’s another selection from the list of the 10 Surprising Books That Will Transform Your Writing that I came across a year or two ago, and which I bought or have received as a gifts.

The list describes what it is about each book that’s germane to becoming a better writer. For this one it says:

In his third book, Malcolm does what Malcolm does best: expose the mysterious pattern behind a particular phenomenon.

This time he writes about genius and how culture, circumstance, timing, birth, and luck account for success.

This book will push your motivation button something fierce. Read it.

I met Joe out at Flex, where it was 80s night, and the place was pretty dead. Carl and his boyfriend (Carl who used to come to line-dancing before his boyfriend moved here, I think, and who both have since moved out to Apex) and Patrick and Mike were there, whom we talked with for the little bit of time we were there.

After one drink, we headed over to The Borough, which was just teeming with folks, where after two drinks, we decided to eat something. A Überwisconsin and an order of fries later, I was sated.

Überwisconsin . . . . . . . . . . 6.00
Sharp cheddar, jack, provolone and tomato grilled on thick sourdough bread

Next on the holy trinity tour, we went to Legends, to where Patrick and Mike had also migrated, and we watched the 1:00 show.
