The refrigerator motherlode; on the road, Pedro; and tongues playing patty-cake…

~Sunday~  I was up at about 9:30, and I was welcomed to the kitchen by Pam and a pot of coffee already made. So sweet, especially since she doesn’t even drink coffee!

I had some of the leftover omelet from yesterday, which was just as good—if not better—today, and then I packed my suitcase and stripped my bed.

In the meantime, Pam had begun to clean out the refrigerator, which they had to leave empty, and I was happy to be the beneficiary of a boatload of food to take back! Fortunately, I’d brought down a cooler with some cut-up watermelon in it, so it was empty to take back the likes of:

  1. The leftovers of all three of our meals from Carrabbas
  2. Some sliced American cheese
  3. A block of pepperjack cheese
  4. A fruit cup
  5. Some POM juice
  6. An unopened container of mayonnaise
  7. Three small pieces of cheesecake
  8. A half of a small apple pie
  9. A half-bag of Tostitos
  10. Three sleeves of Ritz crackers
  11. A tub of sour cream

I’ve probably missed something, but you get the point. It was a shit-ton of stuff, all of which I appreciated!

I got on the road right at noontime, which was my goal. Sad goodbyes were said, and I posted a Facebook status update on my way out:

About to hit the road home, Pedro! #YoureAlwaysAWiener #MyrtleBeachToRaleigh #ThanksPam&Tara

I couldn’t resist a stop in nearby Conway, SC, where I filled up my tank with gas for $3.26 a gallon. It was $3.56 a gallon when I’d filled up in Raleigh before heading down there.

Once I got to I-95, I stopped at a rest stop, where I used the restroom and had lunch:

Eating some of Tara's pizza at a rest stop. :-) Thanks @Tara Lachapelle.

Two things irritate me about that: 1) That typo, and 2) It’s not entirely accurate, as I ended up eating all three pieces of that pizza, not just “some” of it. This, too, shall pass.

I got back to Raleigh between 3:30 and 4:00, and I worked hard not to take a nap. The first thing I did was make myself go to the gym, since I hadn’t been since Thursday, and I didn’t exactly diet over the weekend. Okay, I didn’t diet at all over the weekend.

I did 300 (15 sets of 20) ab crunches, followed by 40 minutes of cardio on the elliptical machine. Surprisingly, I felt good there, and didn’t have any of that 30 minutes vs. 40 minutes argument and negotiation going on in my head throughout my cardio, like a usually do.

I went to Flex for Sunday night scareyoke, and I spent a little bit of time there chatting with Paul and Darren, who eventually spent more time talking to each other. That is, if you can talk with each other’s tongues playing patty-cake.

At one point, someone I know sang New York, New York, and I posted this Facebook status update:

At scareyoke, my friend Brent is singing NY, NY and I'm thinking about my cousin, @Tara Lachapelle. #GreatWeekend

Thanks, my cousins, for a wonderful and relaxing weekend!
