Holiday greetings…

I spent practically the entire day on getting my holiday greetings done. I finished addressing the picture card “Peace from Greece,” wrote my holiday letter, and printed and addressed them. I ran to the post office at about 10:00 to get 120 holiday stamps. It was crowded, especially for a Saturday, but not outrageous. I … Read more

Replacements Unlimited…

I was on vacation today. I stopped by the bookstore on campus to look at software. I compared Pro-Cite and EndNotes, the former $109.99 and the latter either $179.99 or $199.99. I drove to just this side of Greensboro to the Replacements Unlimited store to get some pieces of Vivian and Jeff’s patterns (china and … Read more

A serious time warp…

I got notices to issue owners today about end-of-year due dates. I dropped Courtney off at the airport on the way home. We laughed and laughed and laughed on the way, especially talking about my holiday letter, which ended up being a “holiday media packet” by the time we finished talking about it. Too funny. … Read more

Dinner and dancing…

I may be published again! Woohoo! This time it won’t be fiction, but an article in a technical journal. From: “George F. Hayhoe” 12/09/2004 09:12 AM To: John Martin Subject: RE: Potential Article for Techcom Hi John– Thanks for sending me the paper you wrote for Susan Katz’s course. It looks quite interesting, and with … Read more

Woohoo!

We had book club lunch today. Uneventful. I finished up my PBCs (wow, I got a lot done last year!), and submitted them, leaving work at about 6:05. I met a311renegade at Carmichael, and I got an elliptical machine by the “fountain of hotness.” It was only a “medium hot” night. One or two stellar … Read more

A bust…

The citations took way longer than I anticipated, and I ended up submitting my paper at 11:56, just under the noon deadline. I had to submit it without even reviewing it. Of course, I did after I submitted it, and of course I found a few things wrong, one being that I had inadvertently cut … Read more

Writing and dancing…

We left the house at about 6:40, and arrived at the American Airlines terminal at about 7:00. Hugs all around, and Rebecca said as we hugged to part, “John Martin, I’m happy to be sharing the planet with you.” I dropped by work to get some articles, and to save the Will & Ned PowerPoint … Read more

Reconnecting with Rebecca…

I left Raleigh at just after 2:30 to pick Rebecca up Elizabeth’s mother’s house in Chapel Hill. I called at 3:30 from 15/501 exit of 40 to tell Rebecca that I was running a little behind. “Could you give me another half-hour or so here?” I stopped by Canopy Systems, and spent 20 minutes or … Read more

Too late a night…

I dropped Courtney off at the airport on the way home. Class was very rushed tonight. Dr. Dicks arrived five minutes late, then took five minutes to set up the audio/visual equipment. We were already going to be rushed trying to get 11 presentations in had we started on time. I did my presentation after … Read more
