I woke up at 6AM today, and started work.
I took a break from 10:00 – 12:00 to attend a RefWorks class at State, which will be invaluable even with the few courses I have left. It’s a citation management tool.
The instructor was rather “perky,” and out of the six people who signed up for the class, three of us showed up.
Today I made the October newsletter available — both online and in the Tompkins mailboxes. Feels good to have that done.
I worked from 1:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon.
I was a guest for a welcoming dinner for a guy named Brian (pronounced Bree-an), who is going to be working with us (at my State job) for the next couple of weeks. He’s a PhD student from Ireland.
I rarely feel “under-educated” in a group setting, but I did a little tonight. Sarah, the hostess, is a PhD at State, and her husband is a lawyer. Myra was there, who has her Master’s degree; and Patti, Myra’s boss, was there, who has her PhD.
Sarah was a gracious hostess, and after chopping several vegetables for toppings, made fresh pizzas, which were served with a salad. I brought a chip and dip appetizer, and Myra brought banana pudding for dessert. It was all good.
I went directly from there to Flex, where I brought in the leftover dip, which was immediately devoured. Yay!
It was a rather quiet night, with a small crowd.
