Back from Charlotte, car service, a run to IBM, and show tunes…

I added two birthday pictures to yesterday’s blog entry about Irene’s birthday.

I got up at 10:00 today, stopped at IHOP for breakfast on the way out of Charlotte, and was on the road to Raleigh by 11:30.

The ride back was tiresome and tedious due to the vast amount of rain, especially during the first two hours. At times, I know the visibility was less than 200 feet.

I stopped by home, dropped off my stuff, picked up my Jiffy Lube oil change coupon, and went to their station on Western Boulevard, where I had my:

  • NC Inspection done (which expired in December),
  • oil changed,
  • transmission fluid changed, and
  • radiator flushed.

This took a little longer than I wanted it to, but after catching up my blog entry offline, I thought, “For the hell of it, let me check for a wireless network here,” and voilĂ !

At first I tried the “Papa Lou” network, which didn’t connect. I was surprised to see it on the list, because though it is on the other side of the street, it is a little ways down the road. I was not surprised that it didn’t connect.

I tried a general “linksys” network, and it connected! The deal!

I rode into work, where I scanned and e-mailed Mary her PD Guide, and then worked for a few hours on editing the html file for my “Sounding Gay” survey results, which I hope to do something with some time this month or semester — as in sharing them with other researches and/or getting them published.

I met Joe at Flex, where we played three or so games of pool. Chris (zinnian) was out, too.

Brigner seems to be using Show Tunes Night to exercise some of his creative talents. He had taken a clip for Sordid Lives, and spliced in scenes of the real Tammy Wynette singing, whenever Brother Boy was talking about her or singing like her.

Joe and I stopped at Shanghai Express on the way home. I got the Ginger Chicken with Green Beans, which I’d never had before, and it was out of this world. I brought home half of it for tomorrow’s lunch or dinner.
