We got up at about 9:30, and after a breakfast of turkey sausage with slices of hard-boiled egg on a Portuguese muffins and some coffee for breakfast, we watched three more episodes of Six Feet Under to close out the third season, and to finally get some closure on the “missing Lisa” story line. Finally.
I met Kevin, Kurt, and Eric at Helios at 3:45. When they came in, they told me that they’d closed my trunk for me. Evidently I was distracted when I parked, as right before I pulled into the Helios parking lot, I had a phone call from my Aunt Annette, and I was finishing up the conversation when I parked. I must have popped the trunk, thinking I was going to get my laptop out to take into Helios, but then decided not to, forgetting to close the trunk. Thank goodness my laptop was still there.
Turns out Eric had been laid off from Sony Ericsson in September, which I hadn’t heard.
It was good to catch up with Kevin. His place is finally finished in Seattle, which he’ll close on tomorrow two hours after he gets back to Seattle, assuming all of his flights connect uneventfully. Let’s hope so. It’s been a long time coming.
I met Janet, Sharon, Mary, and Suzanne at 6:30 at the Barnes & Noble at the Streets at Southpoint for Mostly Social Book Club. Well, I met Suzanne, Mary, and Janet there. At about 7:05, Suzanne texted Sharon to ask if she’d forgotten about our meeting, to which Sharon texted back, “Ooops.” She got there about a half hour later.
We had a lot to catch up on, as we hadn’t met since September. Both our October and November meetings didn’t happen. Also, we finally discussed our last book, “The Color of Water: A Black Man’s Tribute to His White Mother.
I was going to stop by Flex on the way home, but the more I thought of how both of the drag queens who emcee on Sunday nights get on my last nerve, I drove directly home instead. Yay for a smoke-free evening and getting bed at a decent hour.
