WordPress blogging, 2 things you never want to see at your gym, and straight people fighting…

~Sunday~  I got a glorious full eight hours of sleep. I should do that more often.

I spent way more time than I wanted to creating that video screen capture of that product installation for my blog for class. I am just auditing the class for Pete’s sake. Oh well, I always was an over-achiever.

It took me at least eight takes to get the narrative to an acceptable place. It’s still not where I’d like it to be, but I digress… Three of the attempts were aborted, as instead of starting with, “From the results screen of a Google search on KeePass…,” for some ridiculous reason, I said (three times!), “From the revolts screen…” WTF?

Anyway, I finally completed the video and got it linked into my blog entry, having to do some mess, because I wanted it embedded into the blog posting, and although it looks like you can embed video into a WordPress blog entry, you actually have to upgrade to the Pro (i.e., pay money) for the privilege.

See the blog posting if you’re interested.

I made it to the gym mid-afternoon, arriving to see two of the three things you never want to see when you arrive at your gym:

  1. A fire truck
  2. An EMS/EMT truck

The other thing you never want to see, of course, is a “Closed” sign.

The parking lot was an absolute mess. There was a lot of snow left, with more and more of it turning to slush, creating huge pockets of puddles to jump around. Also, because you couldn’t see the lines, people were parking all willy-nilly.

Inside, someone was being put on a stretcher. I didn’t smell any smoke. The person behind the desk encouraged me to “move along” and “not gawk,” by asking for my membership number, which they always key in as you enter.

I did only cardio today, with a 60-minute workout on the elliptical machine for a 1106-calorie burn. I listened to a This American Life podcast, episode 396—#1 Party School. It wasn’t the most compelling episode I’ve ever heard, but it was engaging enough to keep me listening.

Back home, I ate what was too late to be called lunch and too early to call dinner, but which consisted of a huge salad with mushrooms, onions, celery, grape tomatoes, (50% reduced fat) pepper jack cheese, and (96-4 lean) ground hamburger on it. For dressing, I used 6 tablespoons of Herdez Hot Salsa.

Absolutely delicious, and all for 380 calories, 13 grams of fat, 19 grams of carbs, and 42 grams of protein. Who’s counting? Dailyburn.com, that’s who.

I met Joe out at Flex for scareyoke at 9:00. The place was so dead that they didn’t even bother starting up the karaoke, which didn’t please some of the few people who were there especially for that.

Until about 10:00, they had The Grammy Awards on. I was so surprised to see two of Michael Jackson’s kids speak, mostly because they looked so much older than they did just six or so months ago at the funeral.

At about 10:00, a whole bus load of straight people came into the place. Bob (the karaoke emcee) jumped right to it and started the karaoke up. Once set up and behind the microphone, he said to the crowd, “Where the hell you bitches been?” To which the arrivals yelled, “Drinking!” Talk about stating the obvious.

One couple stood way too close to one of the loud speakers and fought for at least 45 minutes. The guy never shut up. At one point I thought, “Oh my god; someone shut him the f— up!” At another point, the girl turned away and wiped her eyes. Then they started kissing on the mouth, flaunting their heterosexuality. But I digress…

I left Joe there at about midnight, and had an uneventful ride home in spite of a lot of the roads still partially covered in snow.
