An electric bug zapper horn, a dominatrixy Asian, and a festive dance night…

~Wednesday~  I was actually ready early this morning, and rather than driving to a nearby Wolfline stop, I killed some time by slicing up a cantaloupe I bought yesterday and emptying my dishwasher.

After all that, I almost missed the bus. It pulled up when I was still crossing the street to get to the stop, and I hobbled a little quickly to let the driver know I was interested and making an effort.

Speaking of hobbling, I was just reflecting on—in the last week—how I hadn’t noticed that at some point in the past both of my knees had stopped hurting. Well, lo and behold, both yesterday and today, my left knee is killing me. 🙁

At the Gorman and Marcom stop, the bus started pulling away and a guy on the sidewalk startled me by tapping on the window by my seat to let the driver know he wanted on. As soon as he got on, she pulled away and then seeing someone she knew, blew the bus’s horn. It sounded like the noise a bug makes when it hits an electric bug zapper.

A bunch of students boarded at the McKimmon Center, which is unusual because it’s also a Wolfline stop. An Asian girl and a white guy took the seat behind me, and she had a little-girl voice.

She said to the guy sitting with her, “Are you okay?’ and then after a minute or so, “Don’t worry, I’ll tell you where to get off.” I thought that sounded a little “dominatrixy,” and imagined that chains and whips excite her.

My boss and I had our weekly staff meeting, as she was out of the office yesterday, which is when we normally have it. We’re both pretty busy this week, so it was short and sweet.

I had no other meetings scheduled, and I had a pretty even-keeled, busy day, working some more on that IT Governance at NC State documentation, scheduling a room for my boss’s boss’s December staff meeting, ensuring we had reserved the Faculty Senate Chambers for next week’s university-wide UITC meeting (which we hadn’t, but thank goodness it was available), and calling for agenda items for said meeting.

It was a close-call-for-the-bus kind of day, as I almost missed the bus home, which almost always arrives at about ten minutes after the hour, but today came right on the hour, after I had just arrived at the stop.

I took an hour nap before heading to Flex for dancing. It was quite the festive night there. Sam was there again, and Bob, and we had a good number of dancers, as well as an unusual number of bar patrons out tonight.

Here’s Matt, the Wednesday night bartender, being fairly redundant with the wall:

Matt's t-shirt with Jack Daniel's whiskey on it pretty closely matches an ad on the wall for JD whiskey

Upon leaving, Bob told me he had something for me in his car, which turned out to be some incredible-looking truffles from Escazu Artisan Chocolates, four bourbon-filled ones, and two caramel-filled ones. Thank you, my friend!
