~Thursday~ I started my work day at Bruegger’s, where when I walked in I said to the award-winning manager and team, “How’s my favorite morning crew?”
“A pumpernickel and honey-walnut cream cheese bagel, is that it?” the cashier asked.
“And a small cup of coffee, please,” I replied and then added, “Just a skosh of hazelnut and the rest house blend, please.”
She said, “I can’t remember the last time I heard someone use the word skosh.”
“Well, I’m on a campaign to revive it,” I retorted.
“Well, I like it!” she said.
I worked there until about 10:15, when I crossed the street to the Avent Ferry Technology Center for my weekly 10:30 to noon Google Implementation Team meeting, which I had a little bit of trouble staying focused on this week, since: 1) I was tired, and 2) I was already beginning to shift into vacation to Key West just around the corner.
I drove home for lunch in order to start finishing up things in my fridge in anticipation of being gone for a week.
I caught the Wolfline #9 bus back to the office, where two buscapades of note happened:
- The bus got crowded enough that it was hard for the driver to see the back door, and she closed it before everyone got off. Instead of politely saying, “Back door, please?” like most people did a kid yelled at her, “Hey! HEY!!!” Nothing says entitlement like “Hey! HEY!!!”
- In a reminder of my watch observation on Tuesday, a girl standing in the aisle in front of me, holding on to the handrail in such a way that her wrist ended up right in my face, I noted that she wore a watch that had a small diamond bar at each hour mark. In an attempt to assess their authenticity, I checked the brand to see if it might be a Rolex, but I didn’t see a name or logo on it.
Back at the office, I attended our weekly working team meeting from 2:00 – 3:00 today, and then spent the rest of the day working on tasks in the priority of how important they were to be done before I leave on vacation.
At home, I should have gone to the gym, but instead I napped.
I met Bob out at Trailer Park Prize Night (TPPN), where Jackie Beat was tonight’s headliner—if TPPN can have what you’d call a “headliner.” Evidently, she’s a fairly known drag queen and Hollywood entity, having written for some comedy show, or episodes of a who, I believe my friend Kurt told me.
I do think this definitely NSFW paradoy of hers of one of my favorite songs and video, Baby Got Back, is entertaining (with the unnecessary use of the R-word near the end aside):
