I had a dentist appointment at 8:00AM today. Fortunately, I looked at the calendar on my fridge right before going to bed last night, or I would have missed the appointment — in spite of the card in the mail two weeks ago, and the reminder call on Tuesday.
My hygienist is pregnant again, and ready to pop. She’s having a c-sect in early November. Once she was finished with my cleaning, right before she went to get the dentist, she said, “I flossed your teeth, didn’t I?”
“Yes, you did.” I said.
She said, looking over at the used floss laying on the tray, “Okay, I thought I had, but the floss is so white, I wasn’t sure. Usually it’s got blood spots on it.”
When the doc came in she said, “He has excellent home care, doctor.” It was neither of Drs. Gover that looked at my teeth; I think it was Dr. Averette. And, I believe he’s the “mad cap” doctor. I was waiting for him to recommend a crown. I thought he had retired. He said that everything looked great, and to keep up the good work.
I got to work with not much time before our 9:30 — 10:30 “Arvind Area Meeting” in the B510 cafeteria. Mark Gould spoke on Alan’s behalf, and I was really impressed with his presentation. I sent him an e-mail afterward saying so. Little did I know later on in the day, he was announced as my new 2nd line.
We had “fun day” out at the recreation center. The celebration was much like last year, complete with a pig-pickin’ and a pumpkin decorating contest. It was fun working with Jon B; it’s been forever since we’ve done anything together — since my coming out in 1994 to be exact. We had fun making witty, cutting remarks about the pumpkin we were decorating to look like Chris O’Connor.
I won a “door prize” of 4 Carmike movie tickets. Mathis and I were going to play tennis, but it was too wet, and I didn’t want to take a chance of slipping on the court and spraining or breaking something.
“The party” broke up at about 2:30.
Robert came over after class, we had dinner, and headed out to Flex. Dancing was fun.
