It was supposed to start snowing and icing at sunrise today. I woke up at 9:00 to dry pavement in the parking lot. I SSSed, and headed out to the TCF for our TCW meeting at 10:00. As I approached the first airport exit, there started to be little swirling snow devils on the road. By the time I got to the building it was snowing lightly.
We had a productive meeting, and everyone seemed to be in good spirits. Chris ended up not making it due to being called in to work to update the State’s website due to the weather situation. Once again we outlined a lot to do, but once again as well, we only have 6 people on the board.
By the time we adjourned at 1:00, it was snowing like crazy. I had to squeegee 2-3 inches of snow off my windows. I drove home very slowly, but it was in line with everyone else, and there were no idiots on the road around me between there and home. I was extra careful since my car is new (to me — October 23), and I didn’t want any damage to it.
I pulled into Halliwell, and as I made the turn into my parking spot, my car started sliding. I jammed on the break to no avail, and was sliding right into the Lexus parked in the guest spot next to my one spot. Literally, within one inch of that car, as I was saying, “Oh f*ck!” my car jerked and stopped. Unbelievable. Thank God. I backed up and re-positioned my car between my two spots. What a bitch if I’d’ve gotten all the way home and then had an accident.
I stayed in the rest of the day and night. I did a load of laundry, read the next 50 pages for my ENG 517 class, and did both Monday and Wednesday’s assignments. Monday’s was fun… I had to find an example of a “bad document,” and enumerate 2 or 3 main points about it that made it bad. I chose the NCSU Health/Immunization form that I had to fill out in order to attend grad school.
I chatted with Irene for a bit, and then edited her paper. It was very well written, and I had just a few suggestions. I had to laugh out loud when I got to the “which” or “that” problem, which Steve also had trouble with. Or should I say, “I had to laugh out loud when I got to the “which” or “that” problem that Steve also had trouble with.” LOL Sometimes I crack myself up.
At around 1:30 in the morning, there was a huge contingency of kids sliding down Halliwell Drive on card board boxes. Kids. 🙂
