I worked from home today, and was fairly productive. Devised that long note to Alan about the Issues Backlog Process.
I left the house at just after 2:00, and arrived at Robert’s just after 2:30. He was having lunch, and hadn’t packed yet. We ended up leaving there between 3 and 3:30.
We hit a little bit of traffic as we approached Charlotte. It was 5:00ish, rush hour traffic, on a Friday afternoon. Fortunately, the huge congestion was outbound from the city.
We arrived at the hotel in time to partake of the cocktail hour. Free drinks — they had some liquors and a bowl of “spiked punch.” I drank bourbon and cokes. They also had snacks — a crock pot full of those BBQ-soaked cocktail weenies, which were delicious, chips and dip, veggies, and dip, gold fish, pretzels, and cookies.
We got to dancing between 9:00 and 9:30, and we did several dances of pretty much just the Raleigh guys, which was kind of cool. Then it began filling up, and it was just a great, great night. Fun, fun dancing.
Back at the hotel, around 2:00, I went to bed, and Robert went to the “afterhours party,” which had a “bedchamber” theme, with folks wearing the pajamas down there. The lights were on in the room, and it wasn’t as “risque” as we had been led to believe it might be.
At the end of the evening, close to 4:00AM, Robert met two guys who were totally into Sordid Lives, and they had great fun quoting many of the lines from the movie.
