I spent a good portion of the day catching up my checking, American Express, and MasterCard accounts in Quicken. This will help me greatly when I go to do my taxes. It’s all caught up through the end of November, and backed up using my new memory stick — I put the backup copy on my laptop.
I met Joe and Steve at El Rodeo’s on Hillsborough Street for dinner. We exchanged gifts afterwards. Quite funny… as I got Steve two jars of Harry & David Pepper & Onion Relish, and he got me a four-pack of little jars of H&D relishes — two of them the same one I gave him, with the other two being two different varieties of their relish.
Steve went with me to see Meet the Fockers. I had to use up my last movie coupon, which is only good through 12/31/04. It was a little sophomoric, but I found myself laughing a lot. Loved Barbra in it. I wish Ben Stiller would have taken his shirt off at least once. Call me sophomoric. My favorite line was when Dustin Hoffman met up with Robert DeNiro, extended his hand, and said, “Hey, there’s my brother from another mother.” Beautiful.
Movie Synopsis: The makers and stars behind the runaway hit of 2000, Meet the Parents, are re-united-and joined by some formidable future in-laws-in the the follow-up comedy, Meet the Fockers.
Now that Greg Focker (Stiller) is “in” with his soon-to-be in-laws, Jack (De Niro) and Dina (Danner) Byrnes, it looks like smooth sailing for him and his fiancée, Pam (Polo). But that’s before Pam’s parents meet Greg’s parents, Bernie and Roz Focker (Hoffman and Streisand). The hyper-relaxed Fockers and the tightly-wound Byrneses are woefully mismatched from the start, and no matter how hard Greg and Pam try, there is just no bringing their families together-which all adds up to a disastrously funny time of “getting to know you.”
I ran home to change, and then met Steve and Joe at Flex. It got very crowded in there. Tony, the guy who hosts Sunday Night (Drag) Karaoke, was the emcee, and he actually did pretty good. That guy’s a little bit of a dork “in real life,” but he is actually pretty good at comedy — especially in an emcee role. Shannon was in the show, too, and was pissed with someone the whole night. Ross was out, and Robert’s friend Tom Link was there. Joe left at about ten ’til one, I think, and shortly after that, Steve left for a stop on the way home. I left at about 1:30.
