I had a busy day today working on the upgrade of the Linux adapter guide. I was bugging Qiana every two minutes for about an hour. Rhonda, Qiana’s officemate, is working on the upgrades, too, and it’s a good thing all three of us are in the same cul-de-sac.
I had lunch with Rhonda and we caught up. Never a dull moment with Rhonda, and never a dull moment in Rhonda’s life. We had a lot of laughs during lunch.
Joe called mid-morning from Cayman Brac. He sounded good, and gave me a quick run-down of how it’s going. He didn’t rent a bike, which was a bit of a disappointment, but he is getting around okay with the car. Seems like it’s easy to get bikes only if you’re staying at one of the resorts. The one “local” bike shop had about only two bikes to choose from, and they were old bikes.
He has seen a sunrise, and a sunset was scheduled tonight, leaving one more chance tomorrow night if tonight doesn’t work out. While snorkeling he saw three stingrays, and a couple of turtles. Also, on the beach, they saw a shark.
He had a good birthday, and said, he was lying under the stars that night thinking, “This will be a birthday I will remember for a long, long time.” I told him I’d call his sister on the way home from work today, and give her the update.
Class was great tonight; we had the first four of the website presentations. I know those folks are glad to be done. I love seeing the different approaches to this project people have taken, and the presentation itself doesn’t seem too excruciating, so that was a relief.
I’m looking forward to being done with mine on Monday, though I’ll still have a lot to do to get my Hi Fi Usability Report finished up by Thursday. I plan to attend the Thursday presentations, too, just to see what the other students have come up with.
I spent the night working on my portfolio website, calling it quits at 3AM.
I received the most wonderful card in the mail today from my sister. At first I didn’t realize that it was basically a “homemade” card. It was a “blank inside” card, that was probably intended to be used as a party invitation. It’s the size and shape of one of those “money envelops,” with a landscape orientation — the flap lifting up.
On the cover, on the bottom half of the card are, from left to right, a flower in a bud vase, a bottle of bubbly, a glass of wine, some chip and dip, a coffee cup, a tumbler with something effervescent in it, a martini glass near a snack-sized plate, and a candle. In the top half of the card, above that row of festive party items, she had written, “Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are…”
On the inside it says, “Oops! I forgot, you’re already OUT! Happy (Belated) “OUT” Anniversary!”
Above that, on the top inside flap, she wrote:
Dear John,
Congrats on another year of living your life as YOU! It is a blessing to me to have you in my life. I’m so very proud that you have the courage you do and jealous of the joie de vivre with which you live your life! You inspire me!
I hope you had a great day!
All our love,
Vivian and Jeff
P.S. I think we should make these cards and sell them — I bet we’d be rich.
My heart is full.
