This is an excerpt from an e-mail from the professor of the class I took this semester:
“Attendance is mandatory and required for a successful completion of the course. Unexcused absences will affect your grade directly. Three unexcused absences will result in a reduction of your final grade by ½ letter (e.g., from A+ to A), four unexcused absences by 1 letter grade, and so forth. It is generally recommended to drop the course with more than three absences.” |
There were 20 students in this class, and of those 20, only 8 students had 2 absences or less.
3 students had 3 absences. (That’s a half letter grade subtraction.)
4 students had 4 absences. (That’s a whole letter grade subtraction.)
2 students had 5 absences. (That’s a letter grand and a half subtraction.)
1 student had 10 absences. (They have to have flunked.)
1 student had 11 absences. (Flunked redux.)
1 student had 21 absences. (Why wouldn’t one just drop the course?)
Fortunately for a couple of people in the class, she did not factor in “present, but sleeping.”
I, myself, had perfect attendance. I’m Pauline’s good boy.
I dropped ENG 675 in the Fall, and got a note from Dr. Dicks, that started off, “Bless you.”
I attended the third night of ENG 675 project defenses.
Tonight’s fare featured Heather, Peg, and Michelle — all three with whom I’ve taken at least one class in the program.
Heather’s project was on a Self-Directed Training Module she created.
Peg’s project was on an Information Portal for the Tech Analysts she works with.
Michelle’s project was a paper on Rhetoric in Genetic Counseling.
I mentioned what I’m planning to do for my ENG 675 project, even though it won’t be until the Spring of ’07, to Dr. Dicks, and he seemed pretty psyched about it. Yay!
I looked through the 339 pictures from Queen City Stomp 2006, and downloaded ones that had the Raleigh dancers in them. Tedious, but worth it.
Here’s a picture of me two-stepping with Adam. Love the skin flash.
I went to Trailer Park Prize Night, where innoman made a grand return to the “bar scene.” Yay!
