I attended open sessions from the Teaching and Learning with Technology Summer Institute for Faculty at NCSU today.
The first session was from 9:00 – 9:50 and was entitled .
Session Description: Participants will learn copyright “essentials,” such as what’s protected, for how long, rights bestowed on copyrighted work,and getting permission to use copyrighted work.
The second session was from 11:00 – 11:50 and was entitled .
Session Description: In this demonstration, participants will learn how to use the online survey builder tool made available to faculty and staff for free by the CALS Academic and Administrative Technology group.
The third session was from 1:40 – 3:30 and was entitled .
Session Description: Participants will use Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 to create and upload a basic website, and so will learn about Dreamweaver’s Web page editing functions and site management features. This session is intended primarily for those who are new to Dreamweaver.
The final session I attended was from 3:40 – 4:30 and was entitled .
Session Description: Participants will learn how to use Macromedia Fireworks 8 to create simple graphics and export them to formats suitable for the web. Participants will learn how to create a course banner graphic, alter layout and positioning of text, and be able to optimize graphics.
Rude! Rude! Rude! In the library — between conference sessions — this dork sitting next to me at one of the computers took three four cell phone calls. Could you at least silence the ringer? And, oh yeah, ever heard of the concept of lowering-your-voice?
Totally self-centered, which would explain the inconsideration of others, and chewed like a cow, I might add. He chomped on an entire Baggie™ full of potato chips with his mouth open.
One of the things I don’t like about LiveJournal is that I have no way of knowing how many people read my blog.
I’ve tried putting one of those page counters in before, but it has some problems:
- I have to put it on every blog entry, which gets old,
- I’ve not been able to find one that doesn’t come with an “ad” embedded in it,
- It doesn’t at all give me a feel for how many people are accessing my blog, just the number of times it is accessed, and
- I access my own pages so many times to edit, it’s ridiculous, not to mention skewing the page visit count exponentially.
To this end, I have already put into use what I learned in my 11:00 session to create a survey! Yay for application of learning!
