I met Steve Nelson at Helios today to be a “technical reference” as he booted up his new wireless-enabled laptop to connect to a wireless network for the first time.
We ended up getting help from “Percy,” who sat at a table next to ours, and heard us struggling with being able to turn on the “auto network switch.” Turns out it was a physical switch on the side of the laptop, and not a logical one in some window.
I had called home before arriving at Helios, talked to dad about the very disturbing incident “going down” in Jacksonville yesterday, and had asked him to have mom call me when she got home from church.
She called while I was at Helios, and an intense and unpleasant conversation ensued, in the middle of which my cell phone battery died.
I got in my car, plugged the phone into the car charger, and called her back, but she told dad (who answered the phone) that she didn’t want to talk about it any more right now.
Conflama.
I’ve been meaning to capture this, and can’t even remember when it really happened now — some time last week.
So, Robert and I are doing a crossword puzzle, and the Robert reads out the clue: Narcissus’ love.
“Self,” I replied instantaneously.
“Well, you sure got that one fast,” Robert retorted, and we both just fell out.
That is a big touché to my comment a couple of years ago when he was first starting school.
At registration time, he called me up, and said, “They’re offering a drama class. Do you think I should take it?”
“You might as well get credit for it,” I retorted, which cracked us up at the time, and still does every time we think about it.
Karaoke was uneventful tonight.
At 12:30, I went to Legends, which was also uneventful. That Coti Collins drag queen did Reba, which I love.
