Home Sweet Home and dueling Tinas…

I got out of the bed at 10:13; checkout time was 11:00. I dialed 0, and in my most tired morning voice, I said, “Can we please have a late checkout at noon?”

“Yes, that won’t be a problem,” she said.

Checking out, she asked, “Was everything okay?”

“Yes, everything other than that huge water bug, that we know wasn’t a cockroach, who bid us adieu just now.”

We ended up checking out at about 3 minutes until 11:00, and headed back to the Express Café & Bakery, where this time we enjoyed a table out front in the nice, warm sun.

I checked in with Robert by phone while I saved the table and Joe got our food.

After breakfast, we walked over to the Starbucks so Joe could get a “real” cup of coffee, and then we headed out of town.

On I-95 N, there were pockets of atrocious traffic backups, three or four of them, for about 3-4 miles at a time. One of them was due to a nasty multi-vehicle accident on the other side of the median in the southbound traffic.

Several vehicles had rear-ended each other, and the front bumper of one of them, some sort of SUV, was smashed up almost entirely to the front windshield. I suspect a serious injury in that one.

It took us about 45 minutes to an hour longer to get back than it took us to get down there. Not bad, I guess, considering it was the last day of the long Thanksgiving weekend.

I met Kevin (av8rdude), Kurt, and their friend Carl (Karl?) at Flex for Drag Karaoke. Winnebago hosted tonight.

At around midnight, we headed over to Legends to see the show, which started about ten minutes late (at 12:40 instead of 12:30) due to “testicle difficulties.”

The show was actually rather exceptional tonight. The aforeday-mentioned and pictured Dana St. James hosted, and there were two “guest” drag queens, one from Texas and the other from Vegas, both of whom were black, and they did dueling Tina Turners at the end, including swapping wigs in the middle of one song. The crowd went wild.
