A potpourri of news items, exercising, a resurrected shrimp salad, MSBC, and an office visit…

In my January 28th entry (which I shortly thereafter made a friends-only entry), I posted about a young woman who committed suicide in prison, and as it turned out, whose parents I knew from work, and whose father’s office is just down the hall from mine in my current position.

Well, in today’s N&O Lifestyles section, there is a long, very sad story about the family’s experience.

I fixed a Sausage and Cheddar Omelet for us for breakfast this morning. Robert did the dishes. Sweet.

And speaking of sweet, afterwards we had sliced, fresh strawberries, with a little sugar sprinkled on them, and doused in Cool Whip.

A couple of the blurbs in the Noted feature of  The Week:

This is one of the myriad of reasons that our U.S. elections appall me:

Rudy Giuliani spent nearly $60 million on his presidential campaign, and won only one delegate. Newsweek

I did not know this. I guess it’s news in itself that such a thing could happen without my hearing about it:

Oregon last week became the ninth state to recognize gay domestic partnerships. Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Maine, California, Washington, and Hawaii also recognize gay civil unions. USA Today

In the annals of You might be gay if…

You might be gay if in your on-line profile you describe your eye color as brown/mocha.

I met Kevin (av8rdude) at the gym at 1:30, where he lifted and I did my usual cardio routine.

Over in Bratman‘s blog, I saw this, and about came on the spot:

I want summa dat!

This afternoon, I added some cocktail sauce to my shrimp salad, and oh my god. It’s delicious now! Yum. Yum. Yum.

The Mostly Social Book Club met tonight at the Barnes & Noble out at The Streets at Southpoint. It was a nice gathering, and we actually decided on our next book, The Shipping News, which I actually read in my other book club in 1995.  It’s by the same author who wrote Brokeback Mountain.

Since it was on the way home, I stopped by my IBM office to print a bunch of stuff. The last time I was actually in the office was January 24th—almost a month ago. It didn’t appear as if it had missed me.

Back home, in bed, I listened to several chapters of In Cold Blood on my iPod. The perps have finally been captured.

Then, I fell asleep listening to some Nora Jones.
