~Wednesday~ Before leaving the house, I tried to renew my library book online, as I didn’t want to take it with me on the bus this morning if I didn’t have to take it over to the library during the day to return. I was shocked once again, but delighted once again, that I was able to renew it for another week.
Sci-Fi Fantasy Man was, well, wash, rinse, repeat—heads down, reading, with ear buds in. Madonna and Genetically-Beautiful Child (a.k.a. Dorothy and Sophia) predictably got off at the next stop. Li’l Dino got on at her regular stop, but Grumpy Boy was AWOL this morning.
According to FEEDJIT, my blog is getting hits from some very interesting places these days. It makes me wonder if my blog has been crawled into some search engine or is being “featured” somehow on LiveJournal. Interesting places, where I certainly don’t know anyone who might be reading:
- Langenhagen, Niedersachsen
- Moscow, Moscow City
- Zelzate, Oost-Vlaanderen
- Ketchikan, Alaska
- Philippines
There are actually some domestic locations in which I’m not sure who might be reading, such as:
- Mercer, Pennsylvania
- Shelton, Connecticut
- Henderson, North Carolina
- Parsippany, New Jersey
If you’re a visitor from any of these locations and don’t want to remain anonymous for any reason, I’d love to hear how you landed here.
I’ve made that black and white picture of me that I posted in yesterday’s blog entry my Facebook profile picture, and I got a lot of affirmations about it:
- “Love love love the new FB profile picture!”
- “Hi, John… like the new picture… you look like a movie star 🙂
- “I love your new profile pic!”
- “It’s a beautiful photograph.”
- “Very sexy pic John.”
- “[Y]ou are just a gorgeous man, inside and out.”
- “My first thought when I first glanced at it (before I read the name) was ‘damn… who’s the hawt new FB stud gracing my page!?!'”
Warmed my heart. All of them.
I had a morning meeting with two colleagues on the topic of accessibility. We’re looking at a redesign and migration of this website into our organization’s content management system.
At lunch time, I walked across the street to the Campus Atrium, where I bought a lunch sandwich from Li’l Dinos. Lo and behold the lady making my sandwich was, well, Li’l Dino of buscapade fame! “You ride my bus,” I said to her when she asked me what I wanted on my sandwich.
She got the biggest smile on her face and said, “Well yes, I do!” We’ll see if we acknowledge each other on the bus the next time we’re on at the same time.
I met Dr. Katz in Caldwell Hall for lunch with the dean of CHASS, who is the dean with whom I had the fun thank-you note exchanges a few weeks ago about my recent donations to a scholarship fund in that college.
I spent almost the entire afternoon, and up until 8:15PM in fact, working on the minutes from the September 9, 2009 University IT Committee Meeting, which have to be available in draft form for review two weeks prior to the next meeting. That would be today.
I grabbed a quick, cheap dinner on my way to Flex for dancing, pulling into the Burger King drive-thru, where off the “Value Menu” (of course!), I ordered two Whopper Jr®s ($1.00 each) with only mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato on them.
I drove just up the street to the State Employees Credit Union, got $100 out of the ATM machine, and pulled over to the side in that parking lot to wolf down the two sandwiches. Both of them were made “mayonnaise, tomato, and ketchup only.” Oh well. At least I like those three ingredients and to be honest, not having all that lettuce to drop out with each bite did make them easier to eat.
Dancing was fairly decent tonight, in spite of another week with very few patrons in the bar other than the dancers, and another night of spending a lot of time as a group working on the Indy Crossword Puzzle. Our DJ, Van, was a little annoyed with us by the end of the night, and said, “No more working on crossword puzzles here.”
I left at 11:15 and stopped by work to put the finishing touches on the minutes, and hit the send button to distribute them at 11:57. It was very important to me that they be out before midnight. I held my breath while waiting for the listserv I send them to to process the mail and forward it to the list. My copy arrived in my mailbox at 11:59. You can view the tedious, yet bountiful fruits of my labor here. You know you want to.
